Vertical Features is an organisation founded in 2024 to archive and distribute a series of previously unpublished posters. Most dictionaries define posters according to their purpose: advertising or decorating. We are interested in posters whose function is not clearly (or no longer) defined, dating back to late 90s or early 2000s, mainly picture-based and devoid of any explicit reference to products or companies, they represent a variety of subjects, often relating to cinema. The diversity of subject matter, format sizes and printing techniques, along with the sheer size of the collection, seems to suggest the collective effort of multiple authors. The posters, however, share a similar sensibility, and occasionally engage with notions of reproduction and representation, exposing the poster as a form.

We make no claim that this platform reproduces the posters the authors made or would make now if given the opportunity again, though we believe they are made in the direction of their inquiry.
