Those who act as ghosts

"Demonstrate the principles of "economy of scale" by painstakingly reproducing on a scale of one unit an object that has been optimized for production on a scale of thousands of units. The conceptual gesture of manually disassembling, scanning, printing, and reproducing a book that has already been industrially printed and bound, is a performance that isn't observed so much as inferred by the audience who encounters the reproduced object and becomes aware of whatever marginal differences between it and the original. Meanwhile, those books concern disconnections between labor, economy, and value."

"It happened, one day about noon going towards my boat, I was exceedingly surprised, with the print of a man’s naked foot on the shore, which was very plain to be seen in the sand. I stood like one thunder-struck, or as if I had seen an apparition; I listened, I looked round me, I could hear nothing, nor see anything; I went up to a rising ground to look farther; I went up the shore and down the shore, but it was all one, I could see no other impression but that one. I went to it again to see if there were any more, and to observe if it might not be my fancy; but there was no room for that, for there was exactly the very print of a foot, toes, heel, and every part of a foot; how it came thither I knew not, nor could in the least imagine. But after innumerable fluttering thoughts, like a man perfectly confused and out of myself, I came home to my fortification, not feeling, as we say, the ground I went on, but terrified to the last degree, looking behind me at every two or three steps, mistaking every bush and tree, and fancying every stump at a distance to be a man; nor is it possible to describe how many various shapes affrighted imagination represented things to me in, how many wild ideas were found every moment in my fancy, and what strange unaccountable whimsies came into my thoughts by the way."

"As the custodians of year 19, — Adriaan Van Leuven and Oliver Boulton — proposed a way of working through imitation. Be it a method, model or base; by adopting the action(s) of someone or something. Imitation, not so much in the aspect of ‘copying’, but in the idea of chewing, digesting and regurgitating an existing thing. Imitation, as something we do naturally, as a pedagogy; a process of learning. Imitation, as a coming inhale, exhale. Imitation as a means to reflect, detangle and recognise our surroundings, times, contemporaries, idols. Imitation as a way to embrace or confront one’s swamped reference pool. Imitation, as an open question, put to ourselves and our colleagues: how do you find your voice? At which point Kathy Acker yelled back at us: “Why [do] I have to find my own voice and where [is] it?”"

"The first publication on the work of Dutch power trio Experimental Jetset features almost two decades of graphic design praxis. Rather than a monolithic monograph, it is a very loose, personal archive, with essays by Linda van Deursen, Mark Owens, and Ian Svenonius, plus two photographic chapters with a selection of work by the studio, covering both printed matter and the documentation of site-specific pieces and installations. To conclude is a glossary-like anthology of texts (fragments of interviews, lectures, correspondence, etc.) previously written by Experimental Jetset, selected, edited, and structured by Jon Sueda.""

"WT Papier is the Paper-Repro office of the Werkplaats Typografie family. We offer a form of modified and self-described re-paper that reveals different degrees of its previous life. Using sheets exclusively from WT print runs collected throughout the year, the material is coated(er) with SunChemical white offset ink to give it a new life. This process gives the paper a unique surface. If you would like to experience the tooth of WT Papier, you can also order this paper dummy. Our paper dummies are perfect bound with cold glue or stapled, and contain print samples that demonstrate the unique properties of the paper in use. WT Papier dummies can only be ordered by format (A5, A4, A4+)."
